Job Summary:

This position is located at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), in the Division of Microbiology of Infectious Diseases (DMID), Office of Biodefense Research Affairs (OBRA). The DMID supports extramural research related to the control and prevention of diseases caused by virtually all human infectious agents (over 250 pathogens) except HIV. The OBRA determines biodefense research priorities and recommends funding levels to support the DMID extramural biodefense research agenda; analyzes biodefense research needs and maintains surveillance over developments in basic research, diagnostics, drug discovery, vaccine development, and clinical research. If selected for this position you will serve as a Health Scientist Administrator responsible for providing technical leadership and guidance in vaccine development research for biodefense and emerging disease vaccines. You will stimulate, plan, advise, direct, and evaluate program activities for a portfolio of research projects, research program and other grants/awards, cooperative agreements, and/or contracts in the Office of Biodefense Research Affairs and the discovery, development and evaluation of associated prevention and therapeutic strategies. You will have overall programmatic responsibility for the Office of Biodefense Research Affairs and will be the primary liaison and contact point for that program for all interactions within and outside the NIH.
