Job Summary:
The Deputy Assistant General Counsel for International Affairs provides leadership for the Office of the Assistant General Counsel (International Affairs), one of four Assistant General Counsel offices in the Office of the General Counsel. The Office of the General Counsel (International Affairs) is responsible for providing legal advice and support to the Secretary of the Treasury and the Under Secretary for International Affairs on a broad range of international economic and financial matters. These matters include legal issues involving the international financial institutions, such as the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank, the G-20 process, international banking and securities regulation, international trade and investment, the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States, international debt and development, and a wide range of regional matters such as those relating to China, Europe, and the Middle East. The incumbent works closely with senior officials at the Treasury Department, other federal departments and agencies, members of Congress, foreign counterparts, and the public on international economic and financial matters, including assisting the Department of Justice in litigation matters involving the Treasury Department. The incumbent works under the supervision of the Assistant General Counsel (International Affairs) and is under the general direction of the Principal Deputy General Counsel and the General Counsel. The incumbent manages eight attorneys and one administrative staff member in a dynamic, collaborative, and supportive environment.
