Job Summary:

This position is located in the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) , Chief Operating Officer, Consumer Response Center. The Consumer Response Center accepts, analyzes, and investigates consumer complaints regarding their financial products, while ensuring that consumer protection concerns identified inform the Bureaus supervision, enforcement, rulemaking, and consumer education activities. The Consumer Response Center reviews and investigates consumer complaints related to both depository and nonbank financial institutions. You will serve as a senior compliance expert supporting one or more teams of consumer complaint investigators with advanced regulatory compliance interpretations and assessments relative to the consumer financial protection regulations under CFPBs purview. You will lead assessments of potential regulatory noncompliance at the complaint level, especially for complex and ambiguous fact bases, and recommend potential remedies and courses of action. You will perform consumer response duties and assignments designed to integrate consumer protection laws and program requirements into all aspects of CFPB operations. This position is being filled under CFPB's excepted service authority. Appointments under this authority will be made in the excepted service and do not convey competitive status. This appointment may be extended. This appointment may be eligible for conversion to a permanent position; If made permanent, this position would remain in the excepted service. Employee may be subject to a two-year trial period.
