Job Summary:

As Director, Office of International Transportation and Trade, you will serve as the principal policy and program advisor to the Assistant Secretary for Aviation and International Affairs and Departmental leadership. Your primary duties will include presenting policy recommendations and managing programs in international surface and intermodal transportation and trade. You will work closely with the Assistant Secretary for Aviation and International Affairs to develop international transportation policy that increases transportation system efficiency and market access, facilitates safety and sustainability, promotes innovation and supports U.S. foreign policy initiatives. You will lead teams to implement policy and programs and conduct analyses to identify and address emerging and ongoing international transportation issues and opportunities. You will frequently represent the Assistant Secretary at high level industry meetings and inter-governmental conferences, often being the voice and the face of the Department on important international issues. As a leader, you will provide direction and coordination to the Departments modal administrations while developing recommendations for and implementing the Secretarys international surface and intermodal transportation and trade policies and programs. This may include trade facilitation, technical assistance and cooperation programs, trade promotion and advocacy, and multimodal transportation issues. You will direct the Office of the Secretarys international diplomatic and protocol activities. This duty requires facilitation of high level meetings, events and trips for the Secretary and the entire Office of the Secretary leadership with high level foreign counterparts. You will manage an office of international transportation experts that will marshal and coordinate the expertise of the modal administrations toward goals and programs.
