Job Summary:

This position is in the Senior Executive Service (SES), a small elite group of senior government leaders who possess a diverse portfolio of experience and the strong skills required to lead across organizations. As an SES member you will influence the direction of innovation and transformation of the federal government and lead the next generation of public servants. This position is located in the Office of Regulatory Affairs, within the Food and Drug Administration, in Silver Spring, MD. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is a Federal scientific law enforcement agency with the legislated responsibility for ensuring that drugs, biological products and medical devices are safe and effective, that food and drugs are adequately packaged and informatively labeled and that radiation emitting devices are safe, and to prevent and reduce tobacco use. The work of the FDA is carried out by thousands or personnel stationed throughout the United States and abroad. The staff includes physicians, scientists, engineers and a variety of other multidisciplinary professional, technical and support personnel. FDA's programs are national in scope and international in effect, and its activities directly affect and heavily impact upon multi-billion dollar industries, in addition to protecting the public health of hundreds of millions of American consumers. The FDA's Office of Regulatory Affairs is the lead office for all FDA Field activities as well as providing FDA leadership on imports, inspections, and enforcement policy. ORA supports FDA product centers by inspecting regulated products and manufacturers, conducting sample analysis on regulated products, and reviewing imported products offered for entry into the United States. ORA also develops FDA-wide policy on compliance and enforcement. This position is located in the Office of Regulatory Affairs, Office of Policy and Risk Management.
