Job Summary:
This position is located in the D epartment of Health and Human Services (DHHS), Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), Bureau of Health Professions (BHPr), Division of Practitioner Data Banks (DPDB), in Rockville, MD. The Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), an agency of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, is the primary Federal agency for improving access to health care services for people who are uninsured, isolated or medically vulnerable. Comprising six bureaus and 9 offices, HRSA provides leadership and financial support to health care providers in every state and U.S. territory. HRSA grantees provide health care to uninsured people, people living with HIV/AIDS, and pregnant women, mothers and children. They train health professionals and improve systems of care in rural communities. The Bureau of Health Professions' (BHPr) programs are designed to improve the health of the Nation's underserved communities and vulnerable populations by assuring a diverse, culturally competent workforce is ready to provide access to quality health care services. BHPr program components provide workforce studies, identification of shortage designations, training grants for health professions, financial support to students, protection to the public from unsafe health care practitioners and support for the Nation's freestanding children's hospitals by providing funding for graduate medical education to these institutions. The Health Professions Training programs award grants to health professions schools and training programs in every State, which use the funds to develop, expand, and enhance their efforts to train the workforce America needs. This vacancy is also being announced concurrently with vacancy announcement HHS-HRSA-MP-13-809318 under merit promotion procedures.
