Job Summary:
The Department of Treasury is looking for exceptional leaders with the ability to lead and motivate a geographically dispersed and diverse workforce. The Department is organized into two major components; the Departmental offices and the operating bureaus. The Departmental Offices (DO) are primarily responsible for the formulation of policy and management of the Department as a whole, while the operating bureaus carry out the specific operations assigned to the Department. This position is located in the Departmental Offices, Office of Domestic Finance, Office of Financial Research (OFR). The OFR was established by the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act to serve the Financial Stability Council (Council), its member agencies, and the public by improving the quality, transparency, and accessibility of financial data and information, by conducting and sponsoring research related to financial stability, and by promoting best practices in risk management. Positions within this organization are classified by career path, occupational series and pay bands; rather than the traditional General Schedule grades in the Federal Service. This position is an OR-8. Positions within this pay band are executive level and exceed the GS-15; however, are excluded from the Senior Executive Service (SES). The Chief, External Relations is responsible for providing executive level leadership, oversight and support to the Director in carrying out all of his/her responsibilities required for the day-to-day oversight of OFR External Relations, including as relates to public affairs, legislative affairs, relationship management, and editorial activities, as delegated by the OFR Director.
