The U.S. Census Bureau is seeking a highly motivated, innovative, and capable individual to serve as the Chief, Decennial Statistical Studies Division (DSSD). This is an opportunity to play a major role in designing, implementing, and managing the 2020 Census, the American Community Survey (ACS), and being in the forefront of developing new statistical methodologies and cutting-edge research to solve statistical problems. The DSSD is responsible for developing, directing, and coordinating the application of mathematical statistical techniques to the design, conduct, and quality of the statistical programs associated with the decennial census. The DSSD is also responsible for developing and conducting programs of research for improving the decennial census and related surveys, including the ACS and the Puerto Rico Community Survey. The Chief of DSSD provides technical, managerial and administrative leadership to the formulation and execution of the division programs, participates in the development of Census Bureau policies, and represents the Census Bureau with professional groups or organizations interested in the DSSDs work. This position is a Senior Executive Service (SES) career-reserved position. Positions in the SES are not graded. SES pay is commensurate with qualifications. SES employees are eligible for bonuses and awards based on performance. Veteran's preference is not applicable to SES.
