Job Summary:
The Department of the Treasury Assistant Secretary for Management (ASM) has been designated the Chief Privacy and Civil Liberties Officer, the Chief Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) Officer, and Senior Agency Official (SAO) for Records Management for the Department. In these roles the ASM has full authority to act for the Treasury Secretary on all privacy and civil liberties, FOIA, records management, and information collection matters. The Deputy Assistant Secretary for Privacy, Transparency, and Records (DASPTR), as a direct report to the ASM, is the incumbent responsible for managing comprehensive Privacy, Civil Liberties, FOIA, Records Management, and Information Management programs for the Treasury Department, including the Treasury Departmental Offices (DO) and Treasury Bureaus. The DASPTR, supporting the ASM as the Department's Chief Privacy and Civil Liberties Officer, has overall responsibility and accountability for ensuring the agency's implementation of information privacy protections, including the agency's full compliance with federal laws, regulations, and policies relating to information privacy and individuals' civil liberties. The DASPTR also has responsibility for the agency's full compliance with federal laws, regulations, and policies relating to freedom of information, Federal records, and Federal libraries. Duties in all of these program areas include Treasury-wide policy, oversight, compliance, and reporting activities. The DASPTR also is designated the Senior Agency Official (SAO) for implementing the Open Government Directive requirements including proactive disclosure of information, transparency, and identifying high value datasets for release to the public in machine readable formats.
