This position is located in the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) and works under the direction of the Administrator as well as the Deputy Administrator. The mission of SAMHSA is to reduce the impact of substance abuse and mental illness in America's communities. As Director, Office of Policy, Planning and Innovation (OPPI), the incumbent serves as a principal advisor and strategic partner to the Administrator, SAMHSA, on the development, analysis, coordination, and communication of SAMHSA's programs and policies. This includes providing executive leadership in strategic planning for the development of national substance abuse and mental health policy, legislation, and regulations. Additionally, the incumbent provides leadership and coordination with SAMHSA Regional Offices to ensure that SAMSHA's policies are inclusive of theRegional and Tribal perspectives and are effectively communicated to the State, Regional, Tribal, Federal, National and International partners.
